Samuel Braxton Gibson was born in 1899 in King, NC and died in 1983 in High Point, NC. He went to college at Catawba College. He played major league baseball from 1926 to 1932 as pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and the New York Giants. In 2003 he was elected to the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame.
